Zoom WordPress SEO Training Course

Module SEO3

Zoom WordPress SEO Training Course

Our Zoom WordPress SEO Training Course demonstrates how and where to edit your pages and posts to achieve the best SEO results.

If you want to achieve organic listings (i.e. listings that you don't have to pay for) in a search engine such as Google, then you're going to need to do some SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) on your pages. Following on from our SEO Keyword Research and SEO Sitemap training courses, our WordPress SEO course shows you exactly how and where to put your key-phrases in WordPress, along with teaching you how to use the top two SEO plugins for WordPress that will help make the process a whole lot clearer, and more fun to achieve as well (Yes, fun isn't a word often associated with SEO, but these plugins really do make the process much easier).

However, before we launch into using any plugins, we first explain the basics, including where to put your key-phrases in WordPress, and how to construct well formed sentences from them for use on your WordPress website, including:

  • Page Title - The most important area in which to get your SEO correct. We explain how to construct cleverly optimised page titles from the key-phrases you choose.
  • Meta description - the short description about your page that is displayed in Google.
  • Heading tags - How to use the H1 and H2 tags in your on-page SEO.
  • Page Content - We explain how best to 'seed' your content with your SEO key-phrases.
  • Image filenames, title & alt tags - How to properly name your images so that they are search engine optimised.
  • URL/Slug - We explain how to name your URLs and 'slugs' to optimise your page filenames.

Whilst the above are considered the essentials, the are also a number of related tactics that will help increase your rankings, including:

  • Internal links - linking to other pages of your website.
  • Outbound links - linking out to other websites.
  • XML Sitemaps - generating a sitemap of your web pages for Google to index.
  • Robots.txt - ensuring that your robots.txt file contains the data search engines need.
  • Use of <em> and <strong> and other methods of increasing semantic emphasis.

Whilst one can begin implementing many SEO techniques into WordPress without the addition of any plugins, in practice we have found that by using either of the WordPress plugins Yoast SEO or All In One SEO, you will gain a deeper appreciation of how to SEO your website correctly.

The Yoast SEO Plugin

Yoast SEO helpfully coaches you to achieve excellent SEO without the help of a third-party. Using a coloured traffic light system (Green for good, amber for OK and red for...well...rubbish) the plugin examines and rates your pages for content, giving you helpful tips on how to improve each page of your website. The plugin examines the whole content of your page (including any page titles and images) and then presents you with a list of improvements to consider. Once implemented, your pages are automatically re-graded, until (of course) you achieve one of those lovely green lights of success! In this online class, we teach you how to get the green rating on every page.

The All in One SEO Plugin

Perhaps slightly ahead of Yoast in terms of functionality, the All in One SEO plugin works in a similar way to Yoast, but with some powerful additions including eCommerce SEO, Local SEO and schema support for eCommerce, and Local SEO, plus the TruSEO score system and On-site SEO Audit, although to get the most out of it, you'll need to upgrade to the pro version.

Whichever plugin you ultimately choose, in our WordPress SEO course we examine each plugin in detail, so you will be fully informed on how to move forward when optimising your website.
